Misopates orontium (L.) Raf.
Erect annual, simple or sparingly branched, usually glabrous below, with long eglandular and shorter glandular hairs in the inflorescence. Lower leaves lanceolate, often opposite, the upper linear, alternate. Flowers shortpedicellate in a lax raceme; bracts usually exceeding flowers. Calyx with long, linear, unequal lobes. Corolla 10–15 mm, equalling or shorter than calyx, saccate below, pink. Capsule c. 10 mm, obliquely ovoid, ± pubescent and glandular-puberulent, opening by 2 apical pores. Seeds c. 0.8 mm, with one side ± flat and the other concave with an incurved, thickened, sinuate-rugose border.
