Much-branched annual 5–20 cm tall, glandular-pubescent at least above. Leaves somewhat succulent, the basal spathulate, the cauline obovate to lanceolate. Flowers in lax monochasia or irregular dichasia. Pedicels 1–3 cm, often bent upwards just below calyx. Calyx 5–8 mm, clavate to narrowly ellipsoid, weakly 10-veined, with short, obtuse teeth. Petal limb 2–3 mm, emarginate, usually bright pink with a darker spot at base. Anthophore short, stout, glabrous. Calyx narrowly oblong, thin-walled, included in calyx. Seeds c. 0.6 mm, reniform, with slightly convex sides and obtuse shoulders, blackish, obtusely tuberculate.
