Vicia lutea L.

Ascending to erect, sparingly branched annual up to 60 cm tall. Stipules small, usually incised-serrate. Leaflets 5–9 pairs, those of lower leaves usually elliptical, the upper oblong, usually sparsely pilose. Flowers solitary or sometimes paired, subsessile in upper leaf axils. Calyx tube campanulate, slightly gibbous; teeth distinctly unequal, the longest much exceeding tube. Corolla 18–30 mm, various shades of pale yellow, pink or mauve. Legume oblong, compressed, usually 20–35 × 7–12 mm, pubescent usually with long tubercle-based hairs; beak curved. Seeds 3–7.
