Lotus longisiliquosus: Perennial with a tough, woody stock and several slender, procumbent to ascending, herbaceous stems 15–40 cm. Leaves 5-foliolate, sparsely appressed-pubescent; the lowest pair broadly and obliquely elliptical; the others larger, obovate, ± truncate; rhachis 2–4 mm. Peduncles much longer than subtending leaf. Umbels usually 2–4-flowered. Calyx indistinctly bilabiate; teeth lanceolate, the lateral equalling tube, the others somewhat longer. Corolla 11–15 mm, yellow; keel with a long, straight, acute beak well concealed between the wings; claw of keel shorter than limb. Legume 25–35 × 2–3 mm, straight, terete.
Differing from L. longisiliquosus in the following characters: Mainly in maritime habitats; leaves sparsely appressed-pubescent to glabrescent, slightly fleshy, the lower small; keel of corolla concealed between the wings, arched, with a short beak, not dark-tipped; claw of keel longer than or equalling limb.
